Rang (literally meaning ‘colour’) is an Arts and Crafts Bazaar inspired by the many colours of Mewar and by Holi – the festival of colours.
The attempt here has been to identify, trace, promote and nurture artists that have yet to take advantage of marketing themselves. They have been in the trade for generations, and may well be the last bastions of impeccable craftsmanship.
The promotion of their demonstrations will generate interest in these dying arts and crafts and make a case for direct patronage – local and touristy.
By actively engaging school children in the activities of the bazaar, we make the necessary link with the future, vital for the preservation of the past.
One of salient objectives of the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation is heritage preservation and promotion.
We are sure Rang will revive a sense of genuine pride and understanding in the local stakeholders and appreciation in the eyes of the tourists, leading to the continuation of a living heritage
