Rajasthan, the land of palaces (mahals), Rajputs, vibrant colours and festivals offers a most romantic and glorious image of times of yore. What is most surprising and intriguing is that these age-old customs, traditions and rituals can be experienced and re-lived in the age of glass and chrome. And what better way to experience these traditions than to participate in a festival that is really Living Heritage. Living Heritage. MMCF, the philanthropic arm of the House of Mewar brings to you the regal festival of Ashwa Poojan (The Worship of the Horse) as part of our ceremonial heritage, celebrated in the most auspicious days of the Indian calendar: Navratri. Ashwa Poojan, to be celebrated with pomp and splendour on October 01, 2006, is a time-honoured tradition that has been continued since the ancient past, practiced and followed by the present 76th custodian of the House of Mewar, Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar.
This festival samples the culture of Rajasthan reflecting the intimacy between a Rajput and his horse, and is demonstrated in the regal procession of decorated cavalry and in the poojan, wherein 5 royal horses – Raj Tilak, Raj Roop, Ganesh, Chance and Tarangini (mare) will be worshipped by Shriji himself!
